Meetings are held the first Monday of the month at 19:00 Hours (7 P.M.) at club quarters at 414 N. Gay St. This is the former quarters of Engine 6 and Battalion Chief 2.  All events listed below are at club quarters except where noted.

RECOGNIZE THE LINE OF DUTY DEATH OF:

 

Probationary Pipeman Charles Franke

Baltimore City Fire Department Engine #10

 

The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department will recognize a Baltimore City Firefighter, who was killed in the line of duty in 1898 during its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The event will be held Sunday May 29, 2011 at the Ivy Hill Cemetery, which is located on Sandy Spring Road at Nichols Drive in Laurel. Members will begin to assemble at 10:30 am and the ceremony will start at 11. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the firehouse at 7411 Cherry Lane in Laurel.

 

Probationary Pipeman Charles Franke responded with Baltimore City Engine 10 on a train to help fight a fire at the Milstead Hotel on August 27, 1898. Firefighter Franke was struck and killed while helping to unload the steam engine from the train.
